Telling stories through performance is human nature, but how can we use technology to enhance, frame, or reveal new perspectives on stories told? Students will learn about tools and techniques from design professionals, and will engage directly and collaboratively with technology to design experiences focused around live performance. Areas covered may include projections and multimedia, lighting, interactivity, and programming for creative applications. This class hopes to bring together students with arts and STEM backgrounds, and does not require prior experience.
Assigned reading of up to 75 pages a week; presentation of student work created around text-based sources.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
No experience required. Students may elect to register for THR 210A (LA designation) or THR 210B (QR designation). In either case, students must register for both M and W sections. All students will engage with the same course content and be expected to complete the same assignments. Please fill out an application form by Friday, April 21st at noon.
THR 210B, THR 210A are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.
Group work will be a major component of the class – students will be expected to coordinate with each other outside of class to work on projects. Studio time on Wednesday will be an opportunity to work on projects with instructor support. Grading: 20% “Other” will be final project.
