Theatrical Design Studio

This course is designed to endow students with the conceptual and practical skills that will enable them to design, or work as an effective director with designers, for productions in the theater program. The class will support students in developing a collaborative creative process and in making technical and practical decisions, as well as in communicating effectively with the creative team and technical staff. The course will combine an exploration of visual storytelling and creative collaboration with a grounding in the practical and communicative skills necessary to create the physical world of a production.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Students will learn to conceive designs in collaboration, and within the particular resources of their production. Students will be encouraged to design productions outside their field of familiarity as well as within it.
