The 2015 Princeton French Theater Festival continues with Ajax, qu’on me donne un ennemi, based on famed German playwright Heiner Müller’s 1994 poem “Ajax for Example.” Head of Nouveau théâtre de Montreuil Mathieu Bauer plays the drums, directs, and orchestrates this poetic sound performance with star veteran actor André Wilms and two other musicians, Sylvain Cartigny and Lazare Boghossian. Their compelling and poetic sound performance adapts one of the last pieces by Müller, whose art of writing discontinuously and heterogeneously is as poignant as in his last plays. The performance will showcase the theatrical approach of dissolving barriers between theater, music, image, and film favored and developed by Nouveau théâtre de Montreuil.

Performances are on Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3 at 8:00 p.m. in the Marie and Edward Matthews ’53 Acting Studio at 185 Nassau Street. Performed in French. Duration: 55 minutes.

Admission is free but reservations are strongly recommended by sending an email to ftw@princeton.edu Subject Line: Festival.
