Acclaimed ensemble and Princeton University Edward T. Cone Ensemble-in-Residence Sō Percussion leads its ninth annual Sō Percussion Summer Institute (SōSI), an intensive two-week chamber music seminar for college-age percussionists and composers on the Princeton University campus and throughout the Princeton community.
From July 16-30, there are a total of eight concerts performed by SōSI students and Sō Percussion, all free and open to the public. Following the theme of “New Beginnings,” this summer’s Institute offers a focus on repertoire from the early and mid 20th Century, in which percussion composers like John Cage imagined a world of “organized sound,” where music consisted of more than just keyboard tones.
Donations of nonperishable food, toiletries, and diapers for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) will be collected at this concert. Audience members may place their donations in the designated boxes outside the performance space.
