In conjunction with THR 101, Aaron Landsman and Serbian artists Kulturanova will present a live-feed of an international collaborative project called Language Reversal, about translation and oligarchy. Landsman has been working in Serbia on this project since just after the US 2016 presidential election. The piece is about how we translate our resistance over time and distance. The piece includes a lesson on the best way to watch a bombing from your car, the value of secret codes among allies, and how to bang pots and pans when the news tells you things are going to be fine. We are developing this performance remotely – Kulturanova will be joining us from Serbia, presenting sections of our material via Skype, and then engaging us in a conversation about how we work together across time zones and language barriers. If dramatic tension is often about embracing and overcoming obstacles, literal and figurative, Language Reversal embodies that tension in form and content. La MaMa is presenting Language Reversal as a work-in-progress next month, with the help of CultureHub.org.

Please RSVP to Joe Fonseca at jfonseca@princeton.edu by September 24th.
