Hello hello! I’m David, I’m from New Jersey, and I’m studying Sociology and pursuing a certificate in Creative Writing. Outside of that, I like doing lots of stuff — I’m a DJ at WPRB 103.3, a member of Songline Slam Poetry, and a bassist for the Jazz Vocal Collective.

Let’s talk about stuff! Art stuff, yeah, but also any stuff, really. As a Peer Arts Advisor, I’m here to chat about finding your creative voice at any stage in the process. It’s not uncommon to get psyched out by whatever is called “artful,” like there’s some kind of intellectual highbar or standard — especially if you’re an artist of color. But what’s helped, for me, is saturation — connecting myself to anything and everything that artists are doing.

I think that’s why I’m a huge radio fan. It’s writing; it’s music; it’s news; it’s culture. It’s using words and sounds to bring to life what you can’t see. It’s an intersection of media that has a little bit for everyone, and as an Arts Advisor, I’m all about finding intersections. Whatever medium or discipline you choose, explore it and don’t be afraid to mash it up with something else! I hope I can be a good connector for you — to other students, to new things, to your own voice. There’s always a place for your writing. Let’s find cool stuff together.
