Laurie Abramson received her dance training at the Joffrey Ballet School and holds BA and MA degrees from New York University. She has also studied with Alfredo Corvino, David Howard and at The New Dance Group.

In addition to her work at the Lewis Center for the Arts, Laurie is an adjunct faculty member in the Program of Theater and Dance at Montclair State University and a faculty member at the Princeton Ballet School in the pre-professional program in ballet. She also acts as a rehearsal assistant for American Repertory Ballet’s Nutcracker.

Laurie is involved with designing and implementing dance curriculum and assessments for the New Jersey Department of Education's Department of Visual and Performing Arts and has served as a dance evaluator for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

She has taught as an adjunct professor in dance history at Rider University and as a ballet teacher at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Additionally, Laurie has conducted master classes at American College Dance Festival, created dance reconstructions for the Figaro Project for the Institute of Arts and Humanities, and was a guest lecturer for the Dean’s Roundtable Discussion at NYU Gallatin. She received a New Jersey State Council on the Arts grant for an artists-in-schools residency and has created residency programs in various performing arts high schools in New Jersey. She also has worked as a teaching artist for the American Repertory Ballet Institute, a program that brings dance into the public schools.

Choreographic projects include works for the pre-professional company of Princeton Ballet, Acrodanse Theatre Company, various musical theatre works, New Jersey performing arts high schools, and an international youth festival in England. She is a Stott certified Pilates instructor.
