I'm Yankia, I'm originally from Jacksonville, Florida, but now I live in Belleville, New Jersey. I initially came into Princeton thinking I would become an Anthropology major, but soon realized that I needed to be in the arts, in some way, shape, or form. I'm currently a Senior in the Visual Arts department, and currently working several projects in different media.
As a former Peer Academic Adviser, I know that many people have many questions for which a general answer won't work, especially for majors that were not intended for a specific reach of people. I was lucky enough to grow up in a family who wanted to foster my creativity and my art, and it has helped me grow a lot, and I use it as both a form of escapism and truth.
I want more students to be able to experience the sheer joy and freedom of expression that art can bring that no other form really can. I hope to inspire other students to find other ways to express themselves, and I would love to spend time with anyone who'd be willing to spend time with me to talk about art and how 185 Nassau can be a part of their life.
