Sō Percussion Summer Institute: SōSI at Small World Coffee

With innovative multi-genre original productions, sensational interpretations of modern classics, and an “exhilarating blend of precision and anarchy, rigor and bedlam,” (The New Yorker), Sō Percussion has redefined the scope and role of the modern percussion ensemble, placing it at the leading edge of 21st century music.

Sō’s work encompasses more than 20 albums, a dizzying array of collaborative projects, a steady output of their own music, performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Hall, the Barbican; appearances with Dawn Upshaw, the JACK Quartet, Caroline Shaw, the LA Phil and Gustavo Dudamel; and throughout the world.

This August 1 and 2, Sō Percussion joins Louis Langrée and the Mostly Mozart Orchestra for the New York premiere of man made, a percussion concerto written for them by David Lang. They also offer a “Little Night Music” concert on August 2.

Sō Percussion is the Edward T. Cone Ensemble-in-Residence at Princeton University, runs the annual Sō Percussion Summer Institute (SōSI), and are Co-Directors of the percussion department at the Bard College-Conservatory of Music.
