About

Accessibility

The Lewis Center offers over 120 public performances, exhibitions, readings, screenings, concerts and lectures each year, most of them free, and seeks to make these opportunities available to all audiences in accordance with its mission of diversity and inclusion. Events are held in venues throughout the University campus, but primarily at the Lewis Arts complex, 185 Nassau Street and the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center.

Website Accessibility

If you encounter a disability-related website accessibility blocker, please request assistance via the University’s Digital Accessibility assistance portal.

Lewis Center Accessibility Resources

Audience members with disabilities who have questions about accessibility are encouraged to contact the Lewis Center in advance of their visit. If you are in need of accommodations, such as open captioning, ASL interpretation, audio description, or large print program, we invite you to contact the Lewis Center at least one week in advance of an event date by email at LewisCenter@princeton.edu or call 609-258-1500, ext. 8. Those who use TTY can reach the Lewis Center using the NJ Relay Service at 711.

Campus and Venue Access

The TigerAccess transit system offers curb-to-curb transportation for University visitors, students, and faculty members with mobility-related disabilities or medical conditions. The TigerAccess van operates within the same area and schedule as TigerTransit buses. Users are asked to schedule trips 24 hours in advance to ensure the van’s availability, but last-minute requests are possible. Schedule a ride using a request form listed on the Transportation and Parking Services website, or through the TripShot app.

Visit our Venues and Studios section for accessibility information at our various locations including theaters, galleries, studio spaces and other venues, and our Visit Us page for public transportation and parking information.

Assistive Listening Devices

An assistive listening FM system is available in the Lewis Arts complex’s Hearst Dance Theater, Wallace Theater, Donald G. Drapkin Studio, and Roberts Dance Studio. Please visit the Front Desk in the Forum before the start of the event to request a headset. In the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center assistive listening device headsets are available from house staff/ushers.

Service Animals

Lewis Center for the Arts venues welcome patrons with trained service dogs. Emotional support animals are not permitted in the venues.

Aira

Princeton offers free Aira minutes within the geosphere of the Princeton campus. Aira is a subscribed service to connect people who are blind or have low vision with real-time, highly-trained professionals who provide visual information on-demand using a purchased mobile device app.
