In this course, each student will determine a specific theme that they will poke, prod and refine throughout the semester, ultimately completing three fully realized, thematically-linked sculptures and/or installations. While wood, metal and plaster will be readily available, various mixed media and experimental materials and approaches are highly encouraged. Regular individual and group critiques monitor the progress of each project. In addition, the class will collaboratively complete and install and outdoor public sculpture somewhere on campus. Field trips and image driven discussions will be part of the course.
