Grandma’s Russian Painting: A New Performative Installation

This course is centered around the development of a new performative installation by puppeteer Basil Twist entitled ‘Grandma’s Russian Painting’ inspired by childhood memories of an elaborate painting Twist’s grandmother had near her swimming pool in the desert. Twist intends to create a memory performance where objects and a space take on haunted life of their own in response to original music by Ljova Zhurbin.  Students will explore animating the inanimate, juxtaposition of objects to liberate meaning, and in particular with Zhurbin’s music to create dances without dancers.

Open enrollment — no application necessary.
