Introductory Playwriting

This is a workshop in the fundamentals of writing plays. Through writing prompts, exercises, study and reflection, students will be guided in the creation of original dramatic material. Attention will be given to character, structure, dramatic action, monologue, dialogue, language and behavior.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Three or four exercises to be completed outside of class and read in class; one exercise to be rehearsed outside of class and staged for the class. A one-act play as a final project. This course will meet during reading period.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
No Experience Required.
