CWR 201-3: Poetry and the Subconscious

In this writing workshop we will be focused on delving into the psyche in order to generate provocative and lucid poetry. The class is an invitation to vulnerability, a place to write beyond the margins of the self. Assignments and in-class exercises will include responses to music, dada prompts, and a visit to the art museum. You will also be required to purchase a number of poetry collections (i.e. Terrance Hayes, Lucille Clifton, Juan Felipe Herrera, Ocean Vuong) and submit poems on a biweekly basis that will be workshopped in class.
