Projects in Vocal Performance: Singing American Musical Theatre

This course will invite student singers and pianists to prepare and perform songs from 20th and 21st century American Musical Theatre. Each week students will be coached on their songs in a master class format with an emphasis on musical, vocal, and acting issues. Repertoire will be covered in a historical overview from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. Student singers and pianists must audition for the class. The class will be held virtually using pre-recorded accompaniment tracks unless in person classes are allowed. The final performance project will be determined by current circumstances.

Prerequisites and Restrictions
Entry by audition only.

Please submit the audition form and send an audition video via email directly to Marty Elliott at melliott@princeton.edu no later than Friday, April 23, 2021. Singers should submit an audition video singing a music theatre song with a recorded accompaniment track. It can be an audition video or something recorded and filmed earlier this year for some previous project. Pianists should record an accompaniment of a music theatre song, and ideally the video would show the student playing.
