Theater Rehearsal and Performance

This course will offer students the opportunity to bring a play from page to stage. Students will work with professional director Bi Jean Ngo in rehearsals to create and embody characters using physical theater, voicework, and script analysis. Through focused exploration of text and character along with ensemble collaboration, students will develop and strengthen their skills in acting and public performance.

Prerequisites and Restrictions

Students interested in participating in stage management or backstage roles should reach out to Carmelita Becnel at cbecnel@princeton.edu for more information. Most performing roles will be cast through our Try On Theater process in the May reading period; for further information about being cast, reach out to Elena Araoz by email at earaoz@princeton.edu

Other Information

Additional rehearsals will be held outside of class time on Tuesday and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Although not all students will be called for all rehearsals, you should be regularly available at these times to take this class. All students are required to attend a weekend of technical rehearsals in late October, as well as all dress rehearsals and several performances.
