eli bermanJoin Eli Berman ’20 and Professor Brian Herrera for a conversation about Berman’s ongoing creative research practice as a composer-vocalist writing for their own non-binary voice. In this conversation, Berman will discuss how vocal performance, improvisation, and composition can activate an embodied discovery of the connections between their ancestral/historical memory and non-binary, transfeminine identity. Berman will also discuss how their creative research practice intervenes in a culture that seeks to define their voice, and thus their body, as one that belongs to a man or a woman. This event is open to members of the Princeton University community. Light refreshments will be provided.

Professor Brian Herrera’s “The Creative Intellect” series invites notable scholars, performers and activists to reflect publicly on the analytic tools, techniques and modes that have most guided their artistic and/or intellectual practice.
