Princeton University’s Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students is honored to host American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, Mark Hoppus of blink-182, in conversation with Steven Mackey, the William Shubael Conant Professor of Music.
Mark Hoppus is the co-founder, lead vocalist, and bassist of influential pop-punk band, blink-182. Over the years, blink-182 has achieved multiplatinum success and has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, with songs like “What’s My Age Again?,” “All the Small Things,” and “Adam’s Song” becoming major radio hits.
Steven Mackey – a Grammy Award winner– is regarded as one of the leading composers of his generation, with compositions ranging from orchestral and chamber music to dance and opera. He is currently Professor of Music and former chair of the Department of Music at Princeton University.
Using some of blink-182’s most influential work as a starting point, Mark and Professor Mackey will be in conversation about musical influence and the creative process. We will take questions from the audience at this event.
