Pianist Donna Weng Friedman (Princeton Class of 1980), and Carter Brey, principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic, offer a free recital after a masterclass (4:00-6:00pm) with Princeton University students.
Pianist Donna Weng Friedman ’80 enjoys a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher and app developer. Ms. Weng Friedman has appeared as recitalist at Caramoor, the Flagler Museum , the 92nd St. Y, Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall and Alice Tully Hall. She has collaborated with St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble, Carter Brey, Ani Kavafian, David Shifrin and Paul Neubauer, and has performed as soloist with the Atlanta, Philadelphia and Shanghai Symphony Orchestras, to mention a few. Ms. Weng Friedman has conducted master classes at the conservatories of Shanghai and Beijing and is on the faculty of the Mannes College of Music, Prep Division. As the creator of the MusicBee Club interactive classical music apps for children, Ms. Weng Friedman has inspired children throughout NYC’s private, charter and inner city public schools, giving special workshops and music presentations for students and teachers alike. Ms. Weng Friedman is the coordinator of the Donna Weng Friedman ’80 Master Class Series at Princeton University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree as a University Scholar. She received a Masters of Music Degree from the Juilliard School, where she was awarded the prestigious Gina Bachauer Award as well as the William Petschek Full Scholarship Award.
