Amy Matthews gives a workshop entitled “Anatomical Maps and Territories: Embodiment Practices and a Body of Knowledge,” on Tuesday, October 4, from 12:30-2:20 p.m. in New South dance studio. This workshop explores embodied anatomy and kinesiology as a starting place for conversations about relationship, inter-connectedness, subjectivity and community. Rather than taking information in, we can draw out what we each already know about having a body…and instead of focusing on ideas of ‘right and wrong’ and ‘what’s normal’ we can learn to value individual experience, and build a body of knowledge from our subjectivity.

“The map is not the territory.”
— Alfred Korzybsky

The workshop is given in the context of Aynsley Vandenbroucke’s fall dance course, “Power, Structure, and the Human Body.” The workshop is open to Princeton students, faculty, and staff.
