First semi-staged reading of a new play written and directed by Princeton theater senior Sarah Grinalds. Icarus and Other Party Tricks follows the disorienting world of an increasingly manic Ines Roget as she pieces together a life of mandated therapy sessions, fever dreams, and family confrontation. The play covers topics of grief, detachment, and therapeutic culture in a surrealist format, questioning the boundaries of what takes place, and what has a stake, in reality. Icarus and Other Party Tricks is produced in collaboration with designer Frank Oliva as well as Princeton theater faculty advisors, including a performance by Lecturer in Theater Vivia Font.
