New musicals do not emerge from their authors’ minds fully formed: they are assembled, piece by piece, by a village of collaborators who must work together to address a wide variety of practical and dramaturgical problems in the name of telling a story. How does a music director contribute to that conversation? Join Broadway music director Andrea Grody ’11 for a workshop that explores the questions to ask and the assumptions to challenge about music as a new piece of musical theater is made. Whatever your musical background may be, you will learn new ways of thinking about music’s function within the context of musical theater.

For theater makers with any experience in music or music makers with any experience in theater. To register, e-mail Jane Cox, janecox@princeton.edu

For Princeton students only; the general public is welcome to observe.
