Princeton University’s Department of French & Italian, L’Avant Scène, and the Lewis Center for the Arts presents Nous les Vagues (2011), a senior thesis exploration of Mariette Navarro’s poetic text of revolution, directed by senior French concentrator and Theater certificate student, Michelle Navis ’17.

Nous les Vagues is a five-part poetic text for theater, describing a group that prepares for revolution through the flux and reflux of language. This group is never precisely named, but referred to as “Nous” (We). It is at the same time specific and general, a representation of all revolutionary movements.

“Nous les Vagues est une exploration de ce que ‘nous’ veut dire” (Nous les Vagues is an exploration of what ‘us’ means)
— Mariette Navarro, author
