Assistant Professor of Theater Brian Herrera hosts a “Prof Pic” — a screening of the 1976 film Network — at the Princeton Garden Theatre on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. The screening is part of Herrera’s spring 2016 theater and American studies course, “History of American Popular Entertainments.”

NETWORK is a blistering, satirical film written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet, about a fictional television network. As it struggles with poor ratings, the question arises: how far will the network go to increase its viewership? The acidic answer seems even more true today than ever. Featuring Peter Finch’s performance of a lifetime was perfectly captured in his legendary “I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it anymore” on-air rant. Also with Faye Dunaway, William Holden, and Robert Duvall.
