sarry about saying you don’t is a diary of multiple mediums. In this exhibition, visual arts senior Raya Ward welcomes us into an intimate space constructed of her own archives — ones made of her, ones she has collected, and others she has produced. Through mixed media collage and installation, Ward weaves together a range of record types and sources in a simultaneous rejection of ‘privacy’ and calculated presentation of truth.

Raya Ward (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer working with physical and digital collage to explore concepts of memory, trace, surveillance, display, privacy and intimacy. Her work relies heavily on family and personal archives to explore the purposeful and unnoticed traces we leave behind on our environment, our communities, and on others. Through collage, she grapples with these records and the agency (or lack thereof) her subjects possess in the archives she creates and the archives that are created of her by extractive surveillant regimes.
