The 2015 Princeton French Theater Festival continues with Loin d’eux, the story of a family coping with the grief of the loss of Luc, a son and nephew who had left home. Based on the first novel by celebrated contemporary novelist Laurent Mauvignier, Loin d’Eux lies at the border between theater and literature. Directors Rodolphe Dana (artistic director of Collectif Les Possédés and newly appointed head of Théâtre de Lorient – CDN) and David Clavel give their own interpretation of Mauvigniers’ text, focusing on the first part of the novel which crystalizes the tensions and doubts of the family. Dana, also the sole actor, voices all of the characters’ words and thoughts.
Performances are on Saturday, September 26 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 27 at 5:00 p.m. in the Marie and Edward Matthews ’53 Acting Studio at 185 Nassau Street. Performed in French with English subtitles. Duration: 60 minutes.
