Following on the success of Clôture de l’amour and Soeurs (Marina & Audrey), Pascal Rambert writes about ardent masculine love in Deux amis; a text anchored on the voices and bodies of Stanislas Nordey and Charles Berling, who are battling with their art, profession, madness and love.

In Deux amis, Stan and Charles want to stage four plays by Molière, like Antoine Vitez had done in his time. But the two men disagree and engage in a passionate, tense flow of nervous language. They tear each other to pieces, then embrace each other. The wild beasts admire and envy each other; they burn in their dance of death, make love, and distrust each other. As friends, lovers and artists, they criticize the world of culture and the theater while celebrating total love — its graces, pathetic imperfections and horrors. They’ll stay together until the end, either in a burst of desires or fraternal quarrel. For them, it’s a question of life and death.
