A tuneful, poignant and subversive farce by the great Russian novelist and playwright Mikhail Bulgakov (The Master and Margarita). It’s 1920s post-revolutionary Russia when the hope for freedom means sacrifice and compromise and imagination becomes an escape from harsh realities. Despite a severe housing shortage Zoyka secures a Moscow apartment and to make ends meet opens a brothel that becomes the haven for a diverse group of Muscovites, where social order is turned upside down, and hopes for a new life burn bright.  Guest director Alexandru Mihail brings this once-buried gem to musical life with a cast of Princeton undergraduates.

Tickets: In advance $12, $11 students; day of performances $17, $15 students. Purchase online @ the McCarter Theatre Box Office.
