In October 1998, a queer twenty-one-year old university student is kidnapped, beaten, and murdered on a fence in Laramie, Wyoming. The student’s name is Matthew Shepard. Told through private confessions, court hearings, and news reports collected from the town, Moises Kaufman’s play (in collaboration with the Tectonic Theater Project) is a poignant commentary on the deep-rooted violence of our country, urging us to find grace and compassion beyond grief. Directed by Ethan Luk ’24.
