Baby Wants Candy and Princeton Atelier Students Share TV Comedy Pilots

Members of the famed comedy troupe Baby Wants Candy and students in the fall Princeton Atelier course, “Creating Comedy for Television,” presented an evening of original comedy readings on December 5, 2024, in the Berlind Rehearsal Room at McCarter Theatre Center.

Professional Hollywood actors performed a table reading via Zoom of Baby Wants Candy’s latest comedy pilot, Cult Following, written by Chris Grace. Cult Following tells the story of how Andrea, a struggling documentarian, turns her helpless high school friend into a cult leader while facing the moral dilemma of filming it at the same time.

At the event, professional actors also performed an in-person reading of Broke-Inn, the TV pilot written by the class over the course of the semester. Broke-Inn explores the adventures and relationships of the employees at a seedy Las Vegas motel, focusing on Jane, a young writer who grows into an artist with the help of her found family. In addition, the actors read scenes from pilots written by individual students in the class.
