Alex Ratner is a New York-based composer-lyricist, music director, arranger and recent Yale graduate. While at Yale, Alex studied musical theatre composition with Jeanine Tesori and wrote the score to three new musicals, including an adaptation of White Oleander with permission from Warner Brothers Theatre Ventures. Credits include: War Paint (B'way), Far From Heaven (Williamstown Theatre Festival; Playwrights Horizons) and the world premiere of Children of Eden, Junior, commissioned by Stephen Schwartz and Music Theatre International. Alex contributed vocal arrangements as a member of the Yale Whiffenpoofs and Duke's Men of Yale, garnering him a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) nomination for Best Original Scholastic Song. Alex is a Teaching Artist with Disney Musicals in Schools and a member of the Advanced Class of the BMI Workshop, in which he won the Jerry Harrington Award and Jean Banks Award for his ten-minute musical, "Salad Days."
