Aaron Siegel’s inquisitive and playful work represents a personal vision of how we live with and respond to the sounds in our world. He is a composer of music for the concert stage, the theater, video, and public art. Siegel is one of the co-founders of Experiments in Opera (EiO) with whom he has produced over 80 new operatic works since its founding in 2011. Aaron is the recipient of commissions from Chamber Music America, NYSCA, Mantra Percussion, Young People’s Chorus, Five Borough Music Festival, and Soprano Michele Kennedy among others. He is currently collaborating with director Mallory Catlett on an opera based on the writings of Janet Frame, a cycle of original songs for countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo and setting of collection of poems by Tracy K. Smith for chorus and soloists. Trained as a percussionist, he has performed with Anthony Braxton, Robert Ashley and as part of the trio Memorize The Sky. He also creates music under the name Your People and is working on his second record of stories and songs.
