About

Hey there! My name is Tanaka Ngwara (she/her/hers), and I am a junior concentrating in music and pursuing certificates in theater, music theater and archaeology. In the last two years I have spent a lot of time in the Lewis Center, and now I am so excited to be an LCSA!

I grew up performing and doing musical theater at school and within youth theater companies, and near the end of high school I discovered that I love costume design as well! On campus I have been involved as a performer and costume designer for LCA thesis projects, in the Princeton University Glee Club, as well as with student groups such as Princeton University Players (PUP) and Theater Intime and Princeton Opera Company (POCO). My on-campus jobs include working as a "student stitcher" in the LCA costume shop and as a Mend Leader with the Office of Sustainability. In my own time I also love singing, writing music for theater and sewing historical costumes.

My favorite thing about the arts is how interdisciplinary and collaborative they can be, drawing on diverse backgrounds and experiences to create empathetic and powerful work. I'm excited to encourage more students to seek out the programs and resources we have here at school and to build within these programs more safe, celebratory and healing spaces for my fellow BIPOC and queer students.

So excited to hear from you, please reach out with questions, for advice, or if you just want to talk! Can't wait to make art with you :)
