So Soft You Can Barely Feel the Seams is an exhibition by senior Emma Mohrmann. She notes that she sees things as seams, which can bring things together, like mortar in brick or thread in textiles, but also a place where everything can be torn apart or divided with a single pull. Her thesis exhibition explores the tension between comfort and constriction, permanence and impermanence, and process and progress. Through the lens of St. Louis, her hometown, and various personal materials, she slowly deconstructs and reconstructs memories through city and bodily skins. Mohrman is majoring in the Department of Art & Archaeology’s Practice of Art Track, which is offered in collaboration with the Program in Visual Arts.
