Program Notes
A note from Winter:
Dear audience member, thank you for coming to share our work in progress and for being a witness. Here are a few thoughts to orient you to the world of Lali and Beng.
The physical world: Lali and Beng, are in a small, bare room without windows or light. The floor beneath them is worn down patches of carpet and linoleum. The walls are thick and dirty; the only exit is a banged-up steel door locked from the outside. At the base of the door is an eight inch-high transom that slides open to allow a bowl of food to be shoved in or removed. The cell is entirely empty except for a large plastic bucket for waste. The women are barefoot and unclean, dressed in worn, flimsy cotton shifts. They have long since adjusted to seeing without much light. There is nothing here at all.
Content Advisory
The performance deals with adult subject matter and may not be appropriate for all ages. It is most suitable for audiences over the age of 13.

Land Acknowledgement
An estimated 10 million Native Americans lived in North America before the arrival of European colonizers. Many thousands lived in Lenapehoking, the vast homeland of the Lenni-Lenape, who were the first inhabitants of what is now called eastern Pennsylvania and parts of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware.
Princeton stands on part of the ancient homeland and traditional territory of the Lenape people. In 1756, the College of New Jersey erected Nassau Hall with no recorded consultation with the Lenni-Lenape peoples.
Treaties and forced relocation dispersed Lenape-Delaware to Ohio, Kansas, and Oklahoma. We acknowledge the violence of settler colonialism and pay respect to Lenape peoples past, present, and future and their continuing presence in the homeland and throughout the Lenape diaspora.
