Environmental Film Studies: Research Film Studio

The course examines environmental crises in relation to homemaking, starting with the definition of home as a place where energy is replenished. With the guidance of this theme and twelve masterpieces of cinema, we explore nomadic, settler, migrant, interstellar, and animal homemaking as well as homelessness while learning the theory and practice of film rhetoric.

Prerequisites and Restrictions

No technical competence of video editing is needed, only the willingness to learn skills of non-verbal literacy.

Other Information

The course instructor, Erika Kiss, is founder of the UCHV Research Film Studio. The studio regularly exhibits in global platforms such as the Venice Biennale and prepares submissions to film festivals in the ‘short film’ or ‘student film’ category.
