Barry McCrea is the author of three books including the novel The First Verse, winner of the Ferro-Grumley Award for fiction and a Barnes & Noble Discover Award, and two academic books. His last book, Languages of the Night, won the 2016 René Wellek Prize for an outstanding book in the discipline of comparative literature. McCrea holds the Keough Family Chair at the University of Notre Dame where he teaches modern literature on its campuses in Indiana, Rome, and Dublin. He is currently finishing another novel, Miracle at Thorn Island.
