Princeton seniors Julianna Martin, Maya Sessions, and Nadine Allache, recipients of the 2025 Alex Adam ’07 Award last spring, were honored at a luncheon on October 29.
The award, established in memory of Alexander Jay Adam, supports student summer projects that lead to the creation of new artistic work. Each student presented their artistic research to an audience that included Alex’s parents, Lazlo and Winky Adam.
Sessions, a mechanical engineering major pursuing minors in dance and computer science, spent her summer in Japan, San Francisco, San Jose, and Chicago taking classes and workshops, conducting research, and attending performances. Her experiences will inform a new dance work for her senior thesis in the Program in Dance.
Martin, a Practice of Art major in the Department of Art & Archaeology, used the award to develop experimental, photography-based work for her senior thesis exhibition this spring.
Allache, a Near Eastern studies major and theater minor, used her funding to conduct research and write a new play inspired by Amazigh folktales — stories passed down for generations among the indigenous people of North Africa.
The award provides $7,500 to three undergraduate students and First-years, Sophomores and Juniors are eligible. It can be used to support a variety of activities, such as interning at theater or dance festivals; directing, designing, or acting in a show; composing poems or short stories; making short films; or mastering a photographic technique. The activity should culminate in the creation or production of an original work. The application system will open in early 2026 for funding for the coming summer.
