About
Catherine Young studies the politics of representation in popular U.S. entertainments including vaudeville, circus, and Broadway. Her Animal Studies work bridges archival research and contemporary theory, connecting historical performance to current politics. She is completing a book manuscript on class formation, racism, and transatlantic animal performance during the vaudeville era. In addition, she is adapting a German play into a musical titled Goethe’s Poodle. She is committed to critical pedagogy.
