Truth Future Bachman
About
Truth Future Bachman is a "rising-star nonbinary composer" (Playbill), vocalist, and writer of socially focused musicals. "Musically and vocally rich" (NYTimes), Truth is praised for "golden-voiced, soulful vocals" (Vulture). They were recently featured in Runners World and Teen Vogue.
Truth penned an anthology of queer/trans musicals called "Shapeshifters," which include original musicals: Second Sight (Lincoln Center 2024); Skyward: An Endling Elegy (Lincoln Center 2023, Powerhouse, FIPAP); Luna & the Starbodies (Lincoln Center 2022, Joe's Pub, Powerhouse). Truth is an artist in residence at Joe’s Pub at the Public (2025), La MaMa E.T.C., and alum of New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio and Joe's Pub Working Group. 2024 Gaudino Creative Fellowship recipient, 2023 Frank Young grantee, and 2023 Jonathan Larson Award Finalist. Truth was mentored by the late Elizabeth Swados and was her musical director and collaborator til the end of her life. As a visiting artist, composer, and mentor, Truth continues her legacy of instruction by teaching songwriting and theater creation at NYU Tisch, Queens Theatre, Williams College, and Princeton.
In 2024, Truth will run four of six Abbott World Major marathons.
