Disability is front and center in a global social justice revolution. But who are the disabled artists and ideas behind this movement? How can we embrace Radical Accessibility and Care in our daily artistic practices? This course invites all artists, from choreographers to theater makers, film makers, visual artists, writers and composers to immerse in a highly collaborative, improvisational, experimental and inclusive community to explore Disability Justice as a framework for creative, dramaturgical and curatorial practices.
Prerequisites and Restrictions
This course is designed for all students interested in Radical Accessibility. Disabled and Non-Disabled, d/Deaf, Chronically Ill and Immunocompromised students, whether new to or experienced in Disability Justice, Accessibility and/or Art Making practices are highly encouraged to enroll.
Other Information
We’ll take an embodied approach to Disability Justice. Each class will include self-care practices to ground ourselves into our bodies through simple writing, breathing and physical warm-ups to the capacity of our bodies/minds. Although attendance at all classes is highly suggested, this is a space for dialogue and care among participants and the instructor. Students are encouraged to use electronic devices as access tools and assistive technology with no restriction.
