Introductory Fiction

The curriculum allows the student to develop writing skills, provides an introduction to the possibilities of contemporary literature and offers a perspective on the place of literature among the liberal arts. Criticism by practicing writers and talented peers encourages the student’s growth as both creator and reader of literature.

Reading/Writing assignments:
One manuscript every other week. Reading of other students’ submissions in advance of workshop in which they are to be discussed. Other assigned readings or exercises. 60 pages per week.

Other Requirements:
Not Open to Graduate Students.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
Application required. Application deadline is April 17, 2015. Accepted students will be able to enroll in Tiger Hub between May 18 – 22.

Other information:
Individual conferences are scheduled at intervals during the semester. There are no exams. Students may begin the Creating Writing sequence with either CWR 203 or 204. Only freshman applications will be accepted in the fall.

Reserved Seats:
