Events

This lively and interactive event welcomes observers into the performance research process undergirding the development of “‘The Master’s Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master’s House: a Spelman.edu Multimedia Production,” a collaboration between Spelman College professors Al-Yasha Ilhaam Williams and T.Lang and Princeton University faculty Brian Eugenio Herrera and Chesney Snow, and one of the inaugural projects of the Princeton Alliance for Collaborative Research and Innovation (PACRI). Drawing upon a year-long cycle of reciprocal visits and the work done in courses at both institutions, this performance research demonstration will feature Spelman students reading from their collaboratively authored essay, “Audre Lorde, Embodied Cognition and Friendship: A Sisterhood Journey” and performing a new choreopoetic dance-theater work (“Audre Lorde Archive”). A facilitated conversation among the research team, student participants from both schools, and audience members will follow.
