Lewis Center for the Arts Cancels Spring Season of Events

In response to the threat of COVID-19, following a series of recommendations by Princeton University, and to prioritize the health and safety of our community, the Lewis Center has canceled all public events and activities scheduled through the end of spring term 2020. Students and faculty will be conducting classes remotely through the remainder of the semester as well. Campus buildings are not open to the public.

We know this decision causes disappointment, certainly for our students and faculty, who had many exciting plans to share their work with the University and wider community in the coming months. While on-campus programming is suspended, we are exploring potential ways of remotely sharing the work of the Lewis Center’s resilient creative community.

In these uncertain times, we encourage you to nurture the creative spark within you and to find comfort in the arts. Together, we remember Toni Morrison’s words:

“For me, Art is the restoration of order.”

— TONI MORRISON, Nobel Laureate, Robert F. Goheen Professor in the Humanities, Emeritus, Professor of Creative Writing, and Princeton Atelier founder

The Lewis Center expects to be back in full-force in the fall with an exciting new season of events and opportunities to experience the arts! Be sure to check @princetonarts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for further updates. More information is also available at coronavirus.princeton.edu.

BUILDING CLOSURES

Princeton’s Department of Public Safety has announced changes to building access starting March 14, 2020 — faculty, staff and students must have PUID to enter most buildings, including dormitories, academic buildings and administrative offices. Campus buildings will not be open to the public.
