Wintersession event offers an inside look into the business of Hollywood through eyes of Princeton alumni
More than 50 students, faculty and staff attended the third annual Script to Screen: Tigers in Hollywood day-long Wintersession seminar on January 28 in the Donald G. Drapkin Studio at the Lewis Arts complex.
Fifty alumni also tuned in to observe afternoon sessions offered on Zoom. In-person sessions, led by Princeton University alumni, focused on both the business and creative side of Hollywood, including a “Business of Avatar” info session, a “Casting & Auditioning” workshop and a “Script Writing and Pitching” workshop. Additional alumni provided career advice through two Zoom panels, “Breaking In as an Assistant” and “Writers & Showrunners.”
Alumni who came to campus included President of Franchise Development for Lightstorm Entertainment Kathy Fox Franklin ’90 S90 P23; Consulting Producer of Avatar: The Way of Water Ted Gagliano ’82; independent talent manager and producer Tina Treadwell ’80; TV and theatrical producer and director Danny Salles ’86; and TV writer and producer Jennie Snyder Urman ’99. Additional alumni who participated via Zoom included Janelle Spence ’19, Emma Michalak ’17, Arthur Imperatore ’17, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds ’93, Kevin Rodriguez ’10, Kirk Rudell ’91 and Winnie Holzman ’76.
Angel Gardner, the Lewis Center for the Arts’ Associate Director of External Affairs, organized the seminar in collaboration with Princeton’s Center for Career Development Associate Director of Career Advising Tai Yee Ho and alumni officers of Princeton in Hollywood including Mary Lou Kolbenschlag ’14, Nicholas Ellis ’14 and Benjamin Neumann ’14.
