The Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Theater & Music Theater kicked off the 2025-26 season with its annual Try on Theater Community Day on September 2, 2025, in the Wallace Theater. Community Day began with introductions and a series of vocal and movement exercises to welcome students who are curious about theater at Princeton University.
Seniors working towards their minor in theater and music theater introduced the upcoming season, encouraging student participation in all capacities, and shared their involvement with other student theater groups on campus. Community Day is followed on Sept. 3 and 4 with casting and design/production workshops with additional events scheduled throughout the academic year.
Try on Theater replaces traditional solo auditions with group workshops and serves as an opportunity for students to get involved in other aspects of theater, such as stage management, design, sound engineering, production, and more. It was recently highlighted in American Theatre, the national magazine for the American professional not-for-profit theater industry.
