Introductory Poetry

Practice in the original composition of poetry supplemented by the reading and analysis of standard works. Criticism by practicing writers and talented peers encourages the student’s growth as both creator and reader of literature. This class is open to beginning and intermediate students by application.

Prerequisites and Restrictions

No prerequisites. Open enrollment. Three seats are reserved for first-year students, 3 seats for sophomores, 2 seats for juniors, 2 seats for seniors. The program maintains a waiting list. If you are unable to secure a seat, please register your information via a google form for CWR 201 on the CWR Enrollment Info page. If reserved seats remain or become available during Add/Drop, Creative Writing Program staff will reach out to students on the waitlist with enrollment assistance.
