Murphy Studio, nicknamed the “cloud” studio for its ample natural light, is designed to support classes and workshops. Two full walls of the studio are made from translucent glass, bathing the room in filtered sunlight. It is equipped with Harlequin WoodSpring basketweave sprung floor with Harlequin Vinyl Marley flooring, ballet barres and mirrors on the north and west walls, permanent walk-draw draperies for covering the mirrors as needed, and a 6’ Boston Baby Grand Piano. There is a fixed sound plot for audio and video playback but no permanent theatrical lighting system. Non-marring flat-soled shoes must be worn at all times; no work boots or high-heeled shoes allowed.

Where is the Murphy Dance Studio?
The Murphy Dance Studio is located on the third floor of the Wallace Dance Building. From the Forum, take the Wallace elevator or “dancing” staircase to floor 3. Exit the elevator or stairs and the entrance to Murphy Studio is on the left.
From the Arts Tower, take the elevator or stairs to level 2. Travel around the lounge area by Ellie’s Dance Studio and take the long, gently sloping hallway past Drapkin and Godfrey-Kerr Theater Studios. Turn left and take that hallway to the lounge area on the second floor of Wallace. From here, take either the elevator or stairs up to the third floor, where the studio is on the left.
Accessibility
One way to access the Murphy Dance Studio is from the Forum level entrance on Theater Drive across from the train station where the entrance is ramp accessible. Another good option is to enter the building from the Arts Plaza by the reflecting pool. From either entry, take the Wallace Elevator up to level 3, exit the elevator to the left, and the Murphy Studio entrance is located in front of you.
