Theater Light Lab

The theater light lab is designed to support small acting classes and workshops. In a dual role it is also equipped with a theatrical lighting system and repertory light plot functioning as an in-house light lab. The studio features a fixed sound plot for audio and video playback and a Boston Upright Piano.

The Light Lab is located on the second floor of the Wallace Dance Building. From the Forum, take the Wallace elevator or “dancing” staircase to the second floor. Exit the elevator or stairs, pass the lounge area with carpeting, couches and tables, and Theater Studio is straight ahead. From the Arts Tower, take the elevator or stairs to level 2. Follow the long, gently sloping hallway past Drapkin, Godfrey Kerr, and Tilghman Theater Studios. Turn left at the end of the hallway, passing through a large windowed hallway, until you reach the lounge area in Wallace. The entrance to Theater Studio is on the right.

Accessibility

Two good entry points to access the Light Lab are from the Forum level entrance on Theater Drive across from the train station where the entrance is ramp accessible, or from the Arts Plaza entrance by the reflecting pool. From either of those points, take the Wallace Elevator up to level 2, pass through the lounge area, and the entry door is located to your right.
